The worldwide largest portfolio of Siemens couplings offers flexible, highly flexible, torsionally rigid, hydrodynamic as well as backlash-free solutions and railway couplings.
As the world’s largest manufacturer of mechanical couplings, thanks to more than 80 years of experience Siemens ensures that machine shafts are securely connected in almost all industrial sectors – worldwide. High-quality FLENDER couplings and clutches are particularly reliable and low-maintenance and require low investment and operating costs. The range comprises couplings in a torque range between 10 and 10 000 000 Nm as well as versions for use in potentially explosive areas in (ATEX 95) and, of course, individually adapted solutions.
ZAPEX gear couplings are particularly suitable for rough operating conditions as occur, for example, in metallurgical engineering or in the cement industry. In addition, ZAPEX couplings stand out due to their power capacity combined with compact design.
ARPEX all-steel couplings are without circumferential backlash, suitable for high ambient temperatures, and especially for machines which must be operated with high precision. Examples are papermaking and printing machines.
Flexible FLENDER couplings are suitable for plug-in assembly and are easy to mount. The flexible elements compensate shaft misalignments and absorb moderate shock loads of motor or driven machine.
Standard couplings of a wide modular design range and application-related couplings in special design cover a multitude of applications.
Reliable transmission of torque in case of shaft misalignment with low restoring forces
Suitable for vertical mounting position
Electrically insulating series are also available
Low degree of maintenance
Many series and sizes available ex stock at short term
Due to their low torsional rigidity and good damping properties, highly flexible FLENDER couplings are excellently suitable for connecting non-uniformly working machines. They are preferably used in periodically exciting systems, such as drives with internal combustion engines or piston compressors. Because of the large elastomer volume, comparably large shaft misalignments can be compensated.
Transmission of torque possible with nearly no circumferential backlash
Compensates very large axial, radial and angular misalignment (e.g. on flexibly installed machines)
Easy removal and fitting of flexible elements
Series available for use in potentially explosive atmospheres in conformity with directive 94/9/EC
FLUDEX couplings are hydrodynamic fluid couplings operating according to the Föttinger principle. The coupling parts on the input and output side are not mechanically connected and thus not subject to wear. Torque is transmitted by the fluid movement in the coupling accelerated by the radial blades.
Benefits
Soft and shockless starting of machines and conveyors
Acceleration of very large masses without the necessity to use overdimensioned motors
Protection of drive against peak loads in case of frequent starting and reversing operations
Excellent vibration separation and shock damping; greatest possible extent of torsional vibration uncoupling in drives subject to vibration
Our Siemens couplings are used for thousands of rail vehicles all around the world, where they have to fulfill multiple requirements, sometimes in extreme conditions. Whether streetcars, underground trains or high-speed trains – FLENDER’s extensive range of rail couplings offers solutions for all types of vehicle.
Be it as a standard coupling or a customized solution, a complete drive concept or an integrative system component – FLENDER rail couplings boast outstanding quality and an extraordinary service life.
With almost a hundred years of experience in manufacturing gear units and couplings, we can offer the expertise that your rail vehicle deserves. Our quality assurance measures ensure consistent product features.
ARPEX ART high performance couplings consist of pure expertise together with the greatest possible power density. They are used in all high-speed drive systems that require torque transfer where shaft displacement is occurring simultaneously. With ARPEX ART there is nothing left to be desired in terms of both bore capacity and safety: Their compact design allows for compensation of all of the expected displacements in a very small space and, at the same time, the highest possible torque capacity, the lowest possible weight and a very good center of gravity.
The double cardan functional principle of the ARPEX ART enables very high radial offsets, even under great loads. With thin, individual discs, the reaction forces that occur with shaft displacements remain relatively low. The discs of the ART high performance coupling consist of high-alloyed stainless spring steel, and all of the other coupling components are made of high quality, heat-treated steel.
BIPEX-S and SIPEX Backlash-Free Couplings
We offer you a large range of types and sizes in two model ranges for problem-free installation: vibration-damping and electrically insulating plug-in BIPEX-S elastomer couplings and SIPEX metal bellows couplings with high torsional stiffness for angle preserving torque transmission.
Both coupling series are almost completely maintenance- and wear-free and have an exceedingly low moment of inertia. These Siemens couplings are very compact, suitable for a range of installation requirements due to availability of different hub versions, and are very easy to install. The use of high-quality materials combined with optimum workmanship maximizes the availability of your plant.
BIPEX-S and SIPEX are designed for below-mentioned applications in which Siemens has been at home for decades and fit seamlessly into our Integrated Drive Systems concept.
SIPEX couplings are made up of two aluminium hubs and stainless steel bellows. Their metal bellows compensate for axial, radial and angular misalignment with only low restoring forces. They cover a torque range from 0.5 to 5,000 Nm.
BIPEX-S couplings are made up of two aluminium or steel hubs and a polyurethane cam ring. Different cam ring hardness ratings allow the damping ratio and the torsional stiffness to be varied.
